SCHOOL PROFILE
Barangay Bala-as is 5 kilometers away from the town proper of Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, and accessible by any vehicle or motorcycle. Most of the resident consider plant and animal production as their form of livelihood. The place is surrounded with coconut trees and mountains areas. A great part of the school's population also come from these places. The Barangay is led by a Barangay Captain with other officials who are continually supporting the school. The local government of Manjuyod headed by the Mayor is also extending support to this institution.
The school occupies approximately 5,094 sq. m. more or less. It has three (3) school buildings. One building has two (2) classrooms and the other building has only one (1) classroom and there is one (1) annex room in between the two (2) buildings. The third building has one (1) classroom. The school is run by a designated Head Teacher who has been in the position for fourteen years.
It is a multigrade school. One (1) teacher handles two (2) grades. The school has three (3) regular teachers and one (1) pre-school teacher. Bala-as Elementary School is a complete elementary school with a total enrolment of one hundred seven (107) pupils from Barangay Bala-as Proper, and the feeder Sitios, Bacong, Alawihaw, and Upper Bala-as.
The school being an agricultural place also participated in the GPAK projects to encourage the parents and students to increase food production.
The school performance based on NAT and RAT is also improving as seen in the School Report Card.
PTCA funds and other financial resources are handled by the treasurer of the organization following accounting rules and procedures set by the organization.
Management of the school is not quite hard at these times because human resources are assigned in work where they are fit . One most important thing given consideration by the school head is maintaining integrity to continually gain the confidence of the parents, teachers, students, community and other stakeholder through transparency in all transaction. Above all, the school head recognizes God as the infinite source of strength and human mind will turn into possibilities.
